Philadelphia Blocks 20 Shots in Playoff Game
April 5, 1981 - The Philadelphia 76ers rejected an NBA playoff record 20 shots in a 125-122 win over the Milwaukee Bucks at the Spectrum in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
The NBA Playoffs are a time to shine if you want to reach legendary status, and the Sixers players certainly did. Basketball Legend Julius Erving blocked six and teammate "Chocolate Thunder" Darryl Dawkins added another 3 to frustrate the Bucks shooters.
Other Philadelphia Starters included Maurice Cheeks, Caldwell Jones, and Lionel Hollins. Andrew Toney, Bobby Jones, Clint Richardson, Earl Cureton, and Steve Mix were ample off the bench.
Milwaukee countered with a star-studded lineup themselves as Sidney Moncrief, Bob Lanier, Marques Johnson, Quinn Buckner, and Mickey Johnson made up the starting Bucks five. Pat Cummins, Junior Bridgeman and others filled in where needed.
